1 JUNE- A DAY DEVOTED TO SOCIAL ISSUES AND CULTURE IN AFRICA

Association "Above Horizon", in cooperation with The Association of Friends of Africa , Foreign Affairs portal psz.pl and "Rotaract Warszawa Zamek" Association is inviting to joining to "Children of Africa" project, which will be implemented on June 1 2006 in "Rio" Gallery on Piękna street 66a in Warsaw.

Its purpose is drawing participants attention on children issue in contemporary Africa and, most of all, social awareness resurrection and willing of helping people having hard time.
Organizers would like to present and bring closer an exotic African culture, its beauty, diversity of wildlife and art. They would also like to make possible contacting with experts in African studies, international aid, charitable aid, voyagers and active workers in aid of improving African children fate.

This undertaking will contain following parts:

I. Essential Part:

. 11.00-13.00: first part of discussion panel, where students and invited experts and guest will get together. Panel will be lead by prof. dr hab. Jan J. Milewski:
. 11.00-11.15: presentation of guests and predefinition of talk-over issues;
. 11.15-11.30: Maciej Konarski, Warsaw University student, appearance devoted to "Children of forgotten war" topic;
. 11.30-12.30: expansion and analysis of an issue mentioned earlier by prof. dr hab. Jan J. Milewski and Fedare Akeem, the guest;
. 12.30-13.00: appearance of dr Adam Rybiński about "Tuaregs children";
. 13.00-13.15: a break for a treat, during witch it will be possible to watch Jacek Poremba and Jerzy Gumowski photograph vernissage, Weronika Kobylińska painting exposition and photographs exhibition made by African studies students while their trip to Africa.
. 13.15-13.25: continuation of discussion panel, introduction of guests taking part in second discussion panel and its problem matter;
. 13.25-14.30: "To catch up with friends from North"- presentation of matter by dr Katarzyna Czaplicka, Solomon Owuoche and dr Mamadou Wague : "Chances and possibilities for youth education development on the social economic background in Africa".
. 14.30-14.50: appearance of dr Małgorzata Szupejko about "Family model and children position in cultural tradition of African continent;
. 15.00-15.40: a break for a treat, during witch will be a presentation of a short movie made by Tomasz Kozioł, a traveler in love with Africa;
. 15.40-16.50: discussions with invited guests: Adam Leszczyński, an author of a book named "Scarred. Africa and Aids", famous photographer- Jacek Poremba, missionary- Aneta Gajewska, pastor Marek Ciesiółka and a volunteer working with children in Africa;
. 16.50-17.00: greets for all guests participating in project "Children of Africa" and inviting to watching a documentary movie;

II. Cultural Part:

. 17.15-18.00: presentation of a movie relevant to children in Africa topic;
. 20.00: an Afro Beat's Sound System concert, afro-dance show and presentation of Capoeira, a combat art originated from Africa in Warsaw club "Harenda". After the show DJ Sam will rock the house.
