TRACTOR FOR KENYA IN NOWY SĄCZ

Kenya – Polish Forum and Simba Friends Foundation start their new initiative the 25 and 26 may in Nowy Sącz. We will collect the money to buy the tractors for Kenya. At this occasion we organize many interesting events in schools in Nowy Sącz and in the city.

Agriculture in Kenya is still underdeveloped because the farmers don’t have good equipment to make their harvests very plentiful. Vary often one tractor is being used by many farmers, who have to wait for their turn to lend the equipment to work on his field. Those problems are so overwhelming that Kenya-Polish Forum and Simba Friends Foundation decided to do something to change the situation.

We organize many activities which accompany the collect. Our volunteers make the presentations about Kenya in the Zespół Szkół Społecznych located at Limanowskiego street.

Next day there will be a big show at the marketplace in Nowy Sącz. African artists will dance, sing and play at the traditional instruments. There will be many small markets with African handicrafts, Africans wearing their national costumes and the possibility to make a donation for our charity activity.

It is only the beginning we already plan the other activities. The 28th of may in Włoszczowa we organize the second collect. We invite everybody to take part in our events.

Nowy Sącz, 25 – 26 may 2007

25 may 2007 „Day of Kenya”>

9.00 – 11.30

• Workshops in Zespole Szkół Społecznych SPLOT: multimedia presentations, global education, discussion about problems of Africa, the Millienium Development Goals, Simba Friends Foundation activities.

13.00 - 15.00

• Debate: Does Africa need the development aid of polish government? In the debate will participate, the experts from Simba Friends Foundation, Kenya-Polish Forum, invited guests and schools from the region.

17.00 – 20.00

• African Garden Party:

- the degustation of African cuisine specialities, african music,

- we invite the representatives of public institutions, media and other schools to take part in our garden party

12.00 – 14.30

• Exhibition of photographs from Kenya in Ratusz Miejski.

• The opening of small markets with African handcraft

• The lottery, money from the lottery tickets will be assign for tractor

15.00 – 20.00

• The drive of tractor all around the marketplace

• Concerts of African music (Drum Attack; Ricky Lion).

• The final end of the lottery

• The final celebration of the event

17.00 – 21.00

• African films projections in Jazzgot Club.
